Tour for KiKa in a nutshell
A team of thirteen amateur cycling fanatics will ride the Tour de France, one day ahead of the professionals. The same stages, the same distances, in total 2200 miles. Of course we will not be riding as fast as the professionals, but we will ride it in the same number of days. Our goal is to finish as a team in Paris.
The Tour for KiKa team started with dedicated training in October 2009 to realize this extraordinary performance. We are professionally supported by Benjamin Bos, an experienced exercise physiologist and strength trainer. During the Tour we will be supported by Cycling Dutchman, a skilled logistics support company, who gained experience by organizing previous events like the “Tour de Jan Janssen”.
The proceeds of this performance go to KiKa (Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij – Children Cancer-free). The Tour for KiKa team’s fundraising goal is 100.000 Euro (US$135,000). The cost of this tour is approximately 45.000 Euro. The team will cover a large share of the cost, at least 15.000 Euro; and if necessary, everything.
Tour for KiKa is searching for donations and sponsorship, from supporters and companies who understand our mission. Tour for KiKa will need all contributions to achieve this goal and every donation counts! Here are some ways that you can get involved.
