The first mountains

The Tour leads us through the Haut-Jura, over the first hilly mountains and a climb finish. The atmosphere in the group was excellent after the breakfast at Chateau Taminiau, thanks to the hospitality of Lucas' parents. Thank you for everything! At the start in Tournus we were welcomed with croissants and coffee by the local cycle association. After a picture at the town hall we jumped on our bikes and were accompanied by Taminiau Senior, who cycled with us until lunch.


The climbs themselves were not that tough, 2nd category only, but with temperatures again hitting the high 30's, this still made for a pretty tough challenge. Luckily we all made it both up and down the mountains, although at times this meant we dealing with melted tarmac. The finish uphill turned out to be OK as some formidable rock formations created much needed shade. It was a very long day again however. We may need to think about how to be more efficient.
