Cracking over the cobbles

Monday 05 July 2010

Early in the morning the mayor of Wanze was welcoming us with coffee and croissants. This was a very sociable gathering and they also had a beautiful exposition about the Tour de France, with old fashioned jersey's and bikes.

After that followed a dreadful ride to Namen and beyond, until we hit the cobble stones. The weather was far from good, some rain now and then and a though head wind. The painful part started near the French border, with parts of Paris-Roubaix. Luckily the cobbles were dry, at least that's safe.

We decided to put our teeth into the final 50 km and were flying over the cobbles and through the slope of course. The encouraging slope-tourists were shouting us towards the finish and we were actually signing jersey's for some local fans. What a beautiful experience to make a cycling adventure with this fantastic group.
